Meet Ben Genet
“I never intended to be a lawyer.”
I majored in political science in college, delved into the study of Eastern philosophy, went to law school on a lark, and opened my own private practice for two years. Concurrently, I dabbled in buying and selling real estate before realizing I wanted to be the client and not the attorney.
At the age of 30, at the height of the S & L crisis, I closed my law practice. That was the starting point of my career as a real estate investor and the owner of Genet Property Group.
I bought my first 12-unit apartment building and built my first warehouse in 1988 and I still own it today.
Since then, I have bought close to 70 commercial real estate deals and sold 28.

While entrepreneurship is part of my genetic makeup, I’ve had many mentors along the way. One experience helped change my view of business and taught me that the key to success is helping others succeed. It’s an abundance mentality, and I’ve committed to living my life in abundance. Emotional integrity is essential to me as well, and I passionately believe in treating people with honesty; when I tell someone something, they trust me. That gives me an advantage over 95% of the population, and it’s a trait I treasure.
Probably, my best quality is my relentless persistence and my intentional focus on self-improvement. My martial arts training, beginning in college, has helped me stay focused and disciplined. As a result, I’ve evolved in my management style, have happy tenants, long-term staff, and consistent business partners who relish the opportunity to work with me.
